About

Fiona PottsI am 26 years old, I have been living in Bath, UK for almost a year now. I spent the early part of my life living in the South of England and then spent a couple of years living in California before returning to Bath. I am married to Jasper who is a software engineer for Sun Microsystems.

I am a student with the Open University working towards BSc Psychology accredited degree. I have studied An Introduction to Humanities (A103), An Introduction to Social Sciences (DD100), Philosophy and the Human Situation(A211) and Exploring Psychology (DSE212). I am currently studying Child Development (ED209) and Biological Psychology: Exploring the Brain (SD226). Only 3 more courses to go and I will graduate!

I enjoy traveling, art, music, literature, photography and writing. I have a passion for helping others and my current aim is to become a Counselling Psychologist in the UK. I have already completed my Level 2 Counselling Skills certificate, and plan to complete a Doctorate once my degree is out of the way.

I have been lucky enough to have some amazing experiences in my life and of course my wedding day was one of them, a brilliant opportunity to share our happiness with all of the people we love. Another fab experience was going to Glastonbury Festival in 2005 with my brother Ian, where I learned to stick two fingers up the rest of the world and be happy and comfortable being me, something which inspired me to get my first tattoo in July 2007 as an expression of my individuality and of how proud I am of who I am and where I am going with my life. Having overcome many obstacles I am finally at a point in my life where I feel free to just be me.

I really enjoy going to gigs and have certainly been to my fair share of random ones over the past 10 years. From Wet, Wet, Wet (only to accompany my mum, honest!) to Alanis Morrisette, Stereophonics, Bon Jovi, Travis, Oasis, Bob Dylan, Kate Rusby, James Blunt, Hundred Reasons and many more. Since being in the US we have traveled to LA to see Snow Patrol, we have also seen Dave Brubeck in Redwood City and we attended the Now and Zen Fest in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, where we saw Joss Stone and James Blunt. That was the 3rd time I had seen James blunt, all in amazing locations and as ever he was amazing, this latest gig is yet another experience that ties in to my current feeling of satisfaction with the way things are. I walked down the aisle to James Blunt’s High back in February, so seeing him play it live after the event was fabulous.

Other things about me include the fact that I suffer from the condition Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and work as a volunteer for Verity, the UK PCOS charity. I am also currently involved in some promotional work for PCOSA, the US PCOS charity.

I work part-time for a charity called off the record who help children and young people in BANES, providing counselling and information.

I also volunteer for a charity in Bristol called the One25 Project which seeks to enable women who are abused and socially marginalised through street sex-work to break free from this abusive lifestyle and achieve their full potential and make healthy life choices and foster positive relationships with their families and communities. I volunteer as a pottery teacher, attempting to help the women who seek support to use a therapeutic medium to inspire and empower them.

So, that is a bit about me, trust me there is so much more!! I hope you enjoy reading some of my work (poetry, blog) and looking at some of my photos. If you want to know anything more about me or just want to say Hi! then please email me through my contact page.

In the words of Veronica Corningstone, thanks for stopping by!
