Our first experience of local gun crime happened today! Oh how I love America!!

Apparently a guy decided to rob the local liquor store and had two guns on him. Whilst fleeing he dropped one of his weapons but still had a hand gun on him. Instead of maybe leaving a get away vehicle outside he decided to escape on foot, and ran straight in to the apartment complex next to ours.

The first we heard of this was when Jasper received an email warning from Security on the Sun campus telling him not to leave the building. He told me about it on msn and we were both a bit concerned but didn’t really know what was going on. He received another email 10 minutes later stating that this was not a drill and no one was to leave any of the buildings. We still didn’t know what was going on, and Jasper said he would try and find out, 30 minutes later I was just about to write another msn message to Potts, but he was offline. You can imagine my immediate thoughts were not good, I thought he was being held hostage or something and was panicking a bit. But thankfully 5 minutes later he came through the door.

Mind you he wasn’t looking too good, he was pretty concerned about what was going on, he had received an email saying that people could start leaving the building, but would have to leave in groups. He ran to the car, drove in to our street and got even more concerned when he saw 8 police cars lined up down our road surrounding the complex opposite ours.

It wasn’t until about 2 hours later that we were able to find out what was going on.

Anyway, turns out after 4 hours of searching, they never found the bloke. But hey, it gave us a bit of excitement.
